Welcome to Matryoshka, White Christmas and Reindeer Burgers!
It is 12 weeks until we leave on our big trip so I thought it was time to start blogging!
The Blog At the very least this will give family and friends the chance to check up on us while we are away and I can avoid spamming everyone in my address book with lengthy emails.
For others that stumble across this blog, I hope it will be at least vaguely entertaining or mildly informative for those planning similar trips.
The plan is to post regular updates on the planning and then, of course, the trip itself.
The AdventureDeparting 28 October 2012, we will spend 12 weeks travelling from Shanghai to Istanbul. The trip has been built around three weeks on the Trans-Siberian railway. From there the plan is to make the most of being in Europe in winter… lots of Christmas markets, snow and hopefully Northern Lights!
- China [Shanghai to Beijing]
- Trans-Siberian Rail [ Beiijing – Ulanbaatar – Ulan Ude – Irkutsk – Ekaterinburg – Kazan- Moscow – St Petersburg]
- Finland [ Rovaniemi]
- UK [ London & surrounds]
- Italy [Rome]
About UsRyan and I are both based out of the Gold Coast, Australia. We have both travelled quite a bit (not too much together) but this is by far our biggest adventure yet! Big interests include Surf Life Saving (not expecting to come across too much of that in a European winter), CrossFit (hoping to visit some boxes on our travels), and for me, reading and writing.
Hope you enjoy the blog!
